This quarter’s wine club shipment is a landmark for Liquid Kosher—we’re featuring four distinct wines from across California, each offering a unique glimpse into the diversity and excellence of the state’s winemaking. From the structured mountain fruit of Spring Mountain to the refined elegance of California’s Central Coast, and even a rare white varietal making its kosher debut, this lineup is truly something special. We’re pleased to announce our Spring Club Box Wines: 2020 Broad Brush Napa Valley Cabernet, 2022 Timbre Winery “Rare Groove” Central Coast Red Blend, 2022 Broad Brush Cabernet Sauvignon Spring Mountain, and 2024 Otter & Fox Fiano from the Sierra Foothills.
Broad Brush continues to challenge expectations, proving that California wines can be as elegant and site-driven as the great wines of the world. These wines highlight the refined side of California winemaking—wines that express their terroir with elegance and balance. This Napa Valley Cabernet comes from the southern end of the valley, near the valley floor and the canyons surrounding Coombsville, an area known for its cooler climate and volcanic soils. These conditions allow for slow, even ripening, leading to a beautifully structured and balanced wine. The 2020 vintage in Napa was challenging due to wildfires, but there’s no smoke here – careful vineyard selection and harvest timing ensured top-quality fruit. This wine offers ripe blackcurrant, dark cherry, and cocoa wrapped in velvety tannins, making it a versatile and rewarding Cabernet that’s ready to drink now, yet built to age gracefully. It’s mevushal too, which will facilitate more opportunities for creating memories over great wine.
Timbre Winery continues to impress in the kosher wine world, crafting elegant, terroir-driven wines that challenge conventional expectations, and provide great moments of contemplation as they surprise and inspire with their longevity. This Bordeaux-style blend from the Central Coast benefits from the cooling influence of the Pacific Ocean, which allows the grapes to develop bright aromatics and nuanced textures. The 2022 vintage produced wines with exceptional freshness and depth, and we allowed this one an extra year of bottle aging to further refine its structure. Expect layers of red plum, graphite, and baking spices, with a long, polished finish. Sophisticated, expressive, and full of character, this is a wine to linger over.
Spring Mountain, located in the northern part of Napa Valley, is known for its steep slopes, high elevation vineyards, and well-drained soils, which produce some of the region’s most complex and structured wines. The 2022 vintage wasn’t an easy one to modulate, but those who managed the extreme weather achieved wines with deep concentration and fine tannins. This top Reserve-level Cabernet embodies everything Broad Brush stands for: refined power, layered complexity, and an unmistakable sense of place. With high-altitude fruit that develops slowly for enhanced structure, this wine offers deep notes of blackberry, wild sage, and crushed rock, creating a wine of depth and finesse that will evolve beautifully for years to come. It’s no mystery why some of Napa’s oldest and finest vineyards are located in this breathtaking appellation.
Every so often, a wine comes along that reshapes the conversation. This is one of them. Fiano, a white varietal native to Southern Italy, has found a surprising and thrilling home in the granite-rich soils of the Sierra Foothills. The result? A wine that is electric, saline, and bursting with energy. Winemaker David Edelman applies his skills as ‘winemaker to the stars’ to his meticulous small-batch production, and has crafted a wine that is both vibrant and texturally complex, with layers of citrus zest, white flowers, and a long, mineral-driven finish. With its rarity and undeniable charm, this wine is bound to turn heads and introduce a whole new world of possibilities for kosher white wines.
