This quarter, we are thrilled to present three exceptional wines, each showcasing the best of their region and vintage. From the timeless elegance of Pomerol to the precision of Chablis and the powerful allure of Oakville, these selections embody the artistry of winemaking and the diversity of world-class vineyards. We’re very excited to share this “Winter Wonderland” of awesome wines, featuring the long awaited 2018 Echo Roses Camille, the 2018 Allegory Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon, and the 2022 La Chablisienne Chablis Chardonnay.
The 2018 Echo Roses Camille marks a triumphant return following the skipped 2017 vintage, offering a wine of unparalleled elegance and depth. This is the sixth vintage of Echo Roses Camille, and gives a peek as to what we can expect with the Domaine version (versions?) to be released later next year. During our recent tasting tour with the winemaker, Christophe Bardeau, participants were overwhelmed by the quality of this wine. It tasted like something truly exceptional, punching well above its weight class. With vines averaging 60 years old and rooted in iron-rich clay and gravel, the wine expresses its terroir beautifully, with deep flavors of black raspberry, cherry, licorice, and cigar box. The vintage is marked by very pure fruit and an elegant, approachable structure. Already delightful after six years, it will be fascinating to see how this evolves—but wow, is it good now.
This is our third vintage of La Chablisienne Chablis, and it never disappoints. Reliably excellent and always showcasing fresh, vibrant flavors, this wine incorporates fruit from some of the finest vineyards owned by Chablisienne, one of the largest and most important cooperative owned producers in the region. The 2022 vintage’s warm days and cool nights yielded a wine with lively citrus notes, a refined saline backbone, and a rich, textured palate. Whether paired with fish, poultry, or holiday latkes, this Chablis brings a versatile elegance to your table. It’s always a good idea to have a bottle of white wine on hand, and in this case, you may need more than just one bottle. We’re thrilled to include this standout vintage in the Club release.
Our journey concludes in Napa Valley’s revered Oakville AVA, home to many of the world’s highest-end benchmark wines, and it’s easy to see why from the quality of this production. From across the world but from the same vintage as the Echo, the 2018 Allegory Cabernet Sauvignon epitomizes Oakville’s power and grace, boasting a stunning aromatic profile of blackberry, raspberry, plum, and sweet oak, interwoven with hints of smoke and spice. Full-bodied with velvety tannins, it’s a wine of remarkable balance and longevity. Comparing this to last year’s Rutherford release, it’s fascinating to see how terroir plays such a major role not only in the Old World but in New World regions as well. Visiting Napa Valley also can help contextualize the distinction in these adjacent but diverse winegrowing sub regions; you have to see it to believe it. Enjoy its richness now, or allow it to evolve beautifully in your cellar through 2026 and beyond.
